To The Unknown: A book of mystical & Spiritual poetry
By Pradeep Kumar
Gather not...
Pilgrim
gather not withered flowers
and the moments gone
stale and decaying
you can’t make garland
for worship
Let life’s river wash them away
and cover your path with fresh marigold
let new lilies bloom in living waters
as love offerings to nameless Beloved.
Until I find you
Again and again
I am born into the world
filled with light and darkness
joy, sorrow
longing and pain
But I know
one day I shall find you
in spring flowers, summer rains
autumn leaves, silence of snow
in all things of earth and heavens
Until then my wandering will not stop
nor my birth in the world
although I know
it is filled with joy and sorrow
longing and pain.
In Love with Unknown
You are beyond words
my longings and love
still I sing about You
In night’s darkness
when world is asleep
I awaken to Your silence
each cell feeling Your touch
each feeling filled with Your fragrance
When my heart can not hold joy and love
it breaks shore and floods my thoughts
then I sing to express my gratitude to You
Although I know You are beyond words
my longings and love.
Living
Living
like a dew drop
on a blade of grass
reflecting sun
sheltering rainbow
vanishing
in day’s warm glow
leaving no marks.
Alchemy
Often life is
colours spattered
on time’s canvas
chaos of events
prison of anguish and hope
sufferings and excitement
With the courage
to walk the path
you will shatter the glass cell
be alone, bare and free
Then sky will be full
of stars, moon
complete and pure
miles of ocean will stretch before you
glowing with pure silver
and soul’s cup brimming with life.
Longings
Make my life’s journey a canoe
gently gliding in world’s water
without a wave or sound
leaving lilies undisturbed
leaving swans alone
absorbed in their love and play
Make my longing for You, O Unknown,
anguished as the loon’s haunting call
filling the night, half asleep
under the pensive autumn moon
Make my mind a still lake
reflecting the colours of a sombre evening
lost in memory of timeless Beloved
humming the silence of Infinite
And when my end comes
let me enter in Your boundless sky
where the sun preparing to set
and the night is about to be born.
